2011 Christmas Party

December 2, 2011 - MBS Austin had it's Field Christmas Party! It was a very nice to get together with everyone and enjoy the location and the food!  MBS Austin hopes everyone had a wonderful holiday and please have a safe New Year!

OSHA 10 Training Class

  On November 12th and 19th, 2011, Jorge Vazquez  came to the Austin Branch to train our field employees in OSHA 10 Training.  Jorge is our Loss Prevention Specialist from our home office in Houston.  Twenty-seven of our field employees were certified!  Thanks Jorge!!

We would like to recognize our employees who won an ABC's Excellence in Construction award for the UT Norman Hackerman Building and also to Marek Brothers Systems whom won an award for the "2011 Best of the Best Subcontractor" award.

Congratulations to Craig Kaminski, Chase McNeil and Ryan McNeil whom were all present to receive the Eagle Award for the UT Norman Hackerman Building.

Projects

Here are some photos of a current project, the VA clinic, and of the US Court House.

Abpve we are just kicking-off the start of Section-C of the VA clinic in Austin.

Above is some new federal work. Lloyd Meredtih will be the supervising foreman on the exterior project. Doug Prew is currently working to finish off the US Federal Courthouse in 2012, will be supervising the interior project for the VA clinic.

MBS Austin Apprenticeship Program

We would like to recognize our employees whom are participating in our apprenticeship program. In this picture they are standing in front of a frame and sheet rock wall which they built as part of the performance lab project. As part of the lab, each apprentice is required to take apart a metal and wood framing, install insulation and sheet rock using metal screws. (if the framing is wood, sheet rock nails would be used).

2011 MBS Service Awards

Congratulations to those whom received their well deserved service awards last night. The service awards dinner was held at Sullivan's where employees and their spouses were invited to honor and congratulate those individuals whom have been with the company and devoted their time and hard work to Marek Brothers. Courthouse

Efrian Vega, shown here, is working on a lift on the site of the U.S. Courthouse. He is being coached by Francisco Hernandez whom has been training Efrain on istallation of exterior heavy gauge metal. Both of them have been taking turns with the installation and cutting metal. A special blade is used for 12 gauge metal and proper PPE is required, including ear plugs, during the process.

ABC Chili Cook Off

Let's give a round of applause to our team members who cooked up some good chili at the ABC Chili Cook Off! They really enjoyed themselves along with the rest of the participants who brought their own delicious chili.

Westwood High School

Thanks to the hard work of Ed Cheney - Super. and Heutimo Moreno - Foreman, Westwood High School now has an immaculate new cafeteria to enjoy. There is another phase for this project which is currently in progress.

Associated General Contractors of America Banquet

Congratulations to Jay D. Nicholson for his hard work on the Tarrytown Pharmacy job. His hard work paid off and he was awarded an AGC plaque for his outstanding work.

Also congratulations to Chase McNeil for his hard work with the UT Norman Hackerman Building. He was also awarded a plaque for his outstanding work.

Floyd Zahn's Retirement Party

Marek Brothers Systems - Austin would like to recognize Floyd Zahn as he retired last Friday, January 28, 2011. He was a very committed and loyal employee for 27 years. We hate to see him go but wish him all the best.
